Climate

The climate is typical of the warm, wet tropical oceanic climate of windward south-eastern Viti Levu, although Leleuvia is sufficiently far enough off the main island of Viti Levu so that it experiences less rain and has a climate more similar to the drier western side of Viti Levu.

The average mean temperature is 25°C (77°F) with a range of monthly means of about 6°C (11°F). The maximum temperature seldom rises above 32°C (90°F).

During the warmer summer months (November to mid-April), periodic intense tropical cyclones (“hurricanes”) and regular cyclonic storms can bring heavy rains and high storm waves. During the cooler winter months (April to October) the Southeast Trade Winds and associated currents intensify their influence on the island.
